Somerset Area Cycling Routes
Looking to get into cycling, or just find some new roads or gravel to explore? Check out some of our faves.
Somerville Road Routes
Here’s a sample of some of our favorite routes on many of the best roads Somerset County and the surrounding counties have to offer. Everything from flatter Canal Road routes to rolling hills and even some of the area’s must-ride climbs like Zion, Rockaway, Bissel and Philhower.
Looking for more advice on Cycling in Somerset County? Head over to our friends at RideWise for their guide to Somerset County trails, parks, commuting and much more.
Remember these routes are on shared public roads; recommended for experienced cyclists who are comfortable riding with traffic. Shoulders come and go in Somerset County, so if you’re new to the area, consider driving the route beforehand. Definitely not kid friendly. Please be a good citizen and follow the NJ Bike Laws.
Gravel
Avoid the traffic with these spectacular gravel routes. From novice through Epic, there is something for everyone. All of our gravel favorites are here: Bedminster gravel roads, D&R Canal Tow Path, Columbia Trail, Landsdown Trail, D&L Canal, Paulinskill Trail, Ken Lockwood Gorge, Sussex Branch Trail, even the McDade trail.
