Sunday Pops Ride
Last week we shook it up a little bit, and it seemed to be a big hit. Look for 8 AM start times for the rest of the summer and will be mixing up the routes.
Ride Leaders
We have a nice crop of ride leaders for all levels. If you’d like to get involved, learn how to lead a ride (it’s not so hard!), we’d love to have you among the ranks. A group ride is the heart of any club, be the heart BABY! Don’t forget, leading 10 rides will get you $100 on the bonus sheet.
Team Elections
Team elections are coming up! We’ll sort out the exact timing but expect nominations in August and Elections maybe September-ish. Empowering new leaders and leaning in on the next generation is CRITICAL for generational success for any club or team. The vast majority clubs and teams of all sorts fade within the founding generation. Team Somerset has been a success for so many generations because of YOU. US. So please, we absolutely need your involvement and leadership. We have elected positions and appointed positions. We’d love to have you involved please feel free to run for any position.
Executive Board
President: Official representative and spokesperson of the club who presides over all general, special, and Executive Board meetings. They serve as an ex-officio member of all committees, appoint standing and special committee chairpersons, act as the primary custodian of club records (including tax, insurance, and membership data), and call Executive Board meetings as needed to govern club business.
Vice President: Assumes presidential duties when needed; co-planner for team events and strategy.
Secretary: Records meeting minutes, maintains the membership roster, and oversees elections and waiver processes.
Treasurer: Manages all club funds, bank accounts and financial reporting.
Appointed Standing Committee Chairs
Events Committee Chair: Organizes open races, clinics, and club functions (includes Race Directors).
Program Committee Chair: Plans year-end awards, junior development, and meeting entertainment.
Sponsorship Committee Chair: Manages outreach and relationships with team partners.
Social Media/Publicity Committee Chair: Handles public relations and promotes events across digital platforms.
Clothing Committee Chair: Manages uniform inventory and coordinates vendor orders.
Special Committees & Roles
Appointed by the President as needed based on current club interest and team goals.
Chairman of Epic Rides: Coordinates and leads special, long-distance, or signature team rides.
New Member Ambassador: Welcomes new riders to the team, assists with onboarding, and helps them integrate into club activities.
Propose Your Own!: Feel free to suggest any special committee or role that interests you and aligns with the team’s goals.

Team Somerset
Founded in 1936 by Fred “Pop” Kugler, inaugural member of the USA Bicycling Hall of Fame. Today, Team Somerset (aka The Somerset Wheelmen) continues to play a central role in New Jersey’s vibrant cycling and racing scene. With members from throughout the region, we host weekly group rides for all abilities and host and support races throughout the state.
