Good morning Team!

The results are in!

First I want to thank everybody for their nominations and their continued support. The last two years as President have been a heck of a lot of fun seeing the team grow in size and scope. I look forward to leading the team into the future.

The elections were uncontested for the returning board members. And we thank you for nominating several strong candidates to fill the vacant secretary position. While a few of those nominated weren’t able to commit to an elected position, we are happy to say they will remain amongst our most dedicated leaders in our race directors committee.

Speaking of our race directors committee… 2026 has been a year of exploration. The executive board and race directors committee worked hard to choose the path for growing our event offerings in the areas that most makes sense for the team and the cycling community at large.

If being president of this club for the last two years has taught me anything, it is that our members completely stand behind Team Somerset’s long established legacy.

Our members have asked us for more events, and so has the NJ bike racing scene. And we aim to please!

2026 SOMERSET GRAVEL EPIC – this coming November 15!
This represents a departure from our standard events and our willingness to take a bit of a risk. It’s our first foray into the gravel scene and our first recreational event that I can even think of. So we ask for your support and spreading the word. If we can make this event a success, this will be the spring board too much more to come.

2027 CX / Gravel Race
In 2026 we made a huge effort to set the ground work for a new CX or gravel race in Somerset County. Honestly, this was a lot more difficult than we had thought on the onset. Still more work to be done, but I believe we have a solid venue available to us for a rather unique gravel crit in 2027. And we will continue searching for a viable CX venue as well. No decisions have been made yet, but this is an area we’re looking to grow into.

I know I can speak for the executive board when I offer you all a sincere thank you! 2027 will be a heck of a year!

Founded in 1936 by Fred “Pop” Kugler, inaugural member of the USA Bicycling Hall of Fame. Today, Team Somerset (aka The Somerset Wheelmen) continues to play a central role in New Jersey’s vibrant cycling and racing scene. With members from throughout the region, we host weekly group rides for all abilities and host and support races throughout the state.
