Team Elections 2026!

As we all enjoy our President’s Day weekend, can’t think of a better day to remind everybody 2026 is team election year! Boy have these two years flown by. (Seriously.)

I definitely will be running for another term as President; been too much fun to hand off the batton just yet. That said, I encourage all of you to consider running for a position or nominate someone you think would be great. We have elected positions, standing and special committees. If there’s a skill you have or an interest, let us know!

Think it’s overwhelming? Nah, leading the team is a lot of fun. We collaborate on all the major decisions on our Slack group. Heck, a lot of our decisions are made on the bike.

As far as timing goes, Nominations will be in October and elections in November. Just in time for our Fall Pops festival.

Elected Positions: President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer.

Standing Committees: Events / Head Race Director, Sponsorship, Social Media & Promotions, Clothing, Programs.

Special Committees: Head of Performance.

President (Dan D.): The president shall be the official representative of the club, preside over the meetings, and serve as ex-officio member of all standing and special committees. The president shall appoint chairpersons of all standing and special committees… While the president shall be the custodian of all the records of the club…

Vice-President (Dan R.): The vice-president (VP) shall assume the duties of the president in his/her absences. Additionally, the VP will be a joint planner of team events, activities and be essential to the team decision making and strategic direction.

Secretary: The secretary shall record the minutes of the meetings and maintain the membership list. The secretary will also preside over elections and set up the team membership structure and roster on-going, including insurance waiver process.

Treasurer (Marc): The treasurer shall be the custodian of all the funds of the SW, receive dues and all other revenue, maintain a checking account in the name Somerset Wheelmen, deposit all monies received in said account, sign checks, submit an annual budget, render an annual report at the end of each calendar year, pay all bills for programs authorized for payment.

Standing Committee Chairpersons (Appointed by the President)

Events / Race Director (Chuck): Plans and permits club races; manages BikeReg and SOPs.

Sponsorship (Rick D.): Manages partner relationships, branding, and seeks new sponsorships.

Social Media & Promotions (Brian F.): Manages online presence, analytics, and promotes club events.

Clothing (Robert K.): Coordinates kit design, team stores, and vendor relationships.

Programs: Organizes charity rides, team calendar, and bonus programs.

Special Committees

Head of Performance (Rick D.): Coordinates skills clinics and member coaching/fitting offerings.
